Managed WordPress hosting with someone who answers

I run your WordPress site on Google Cloud in London, keep it patched and backed up every day, and answer when you get in touch. One plan, £25 a month.

  • Built on Google Cloud
  • £25 a month, one plan

Which one are you?

Who it’s for

The plan fits sites that matter to a business but don’t need a team of their own.

A consultant on a video call at his desk in the evening

Consultants

Consultants use their site to win enquiries and take bookings.

A bakery owner setting out a tray of pastries behind the counter

Shops

Shops on WooCommerce need checkout to work on a busy Saturday.

Dance students mid-routine in a performing-arts academy studio

Schools and academies

Schools and academies publish term dates and news for parents.

Rows of empty red seats in a small theatre, seen from the stage

Small venues

Small venues need their what’s on page to stay up when tickets go on sale.

Service businesses need a contact form that reaches someone. Charities need a site that looks after itself between volunteers.

Static sites

A brochure site with a few pages and no WordPress can run as a static site on the same platform for £5 a month.

What you can count on

  • Hosted on Google Cloud in London
  • Daily backups, kept for 28 days
  • Checked every 5 minutes from another continent
  • Admin login behind Google sign-in
  • One person to call, and it’s me

Where it runs

Between cheap hosting and the big names

Most small businesses I talk to have tried one of two things. Cheap shared hosting gives you a control panel, a public login page that bots try all day, and a support queue. The premium managed hosts are good, but the price climbs once you add sites or visitors, and you rarely speak to the same person twice.

WPops Land sits between the two. Your site gets the kind of setup I have built for large companies: containers on Google Cloud, a content delivery network for your images, an admin login that only the people you list can reach, and backups held for four weeks. It costs £25 a month, and the person who built the platform answers your email.

I look after updates, caching, certificates, DNS and email records, so you can get on with the business the website supports.

What managed means here

What’s included

The plan covers the website and the things around it that usually end up with different suppliers.

WordPress hosting in London

Your site runs in its own isolated space on Google Kubernetes Engine in London. Production sites run as two copies, so one can restart without taking you offline. Images come from Google’s content delivery network, and pages are cached.

Domains and DNS

If I host your domain’s DNS, you edit the records yourself from the dashboard and can roll back any change. The records your site and email depend on are locked. Spare domains can redirect to your site or show a parked page at no extra cost.

Email authentication

Gmail and Outlook now expect SPF, DKIM and DMARC records before they trust mail from your domain. I publish them for every domain I host, read the reports the mail providers send back, and tighten your policy once they show it is safe.

Monitoring

A checker in a different Google region loads every site every 5 minutes and alerts me after three failures in a row. You can see 90 days of history in the dashboard.

Backups and snapshots

Every night the platform backs up your database, files and media and keeps each copy for 28 days. Before a risky change you can take a snapshot from the dashboard, and if you need to go back, I do the restore.

Staging

Staging copies of your site are free. They sleep after 5 minutes without visitors and wake in about 45 seconds.

Christian Ashby

The person

Who looks after your site

I’m Christian Ashby. For more than 20 years I have been a cloud and hosting solution architect for some of the UK’s largest businesses, and I have worked with cloud platforms since they first appeared.

I built WPops Land to give small organisations the standard of hosting those companies expect, at a price that suits a business with five staff. I wrote the platform, I run it, and I answer the support tickets. I keep the client list small so that I know every site on it.

I reply to every message within 24 hours. If your site goes down, the monitoring tells me and I start on it straight away.

Pricing

WordPress hosting

£25

a month

WordPress hosting is £25 a month for one production site, with free staging, daily backups, DNS hosting and email authentication included.

  • Your first migration is free; I move the site and test it before the switch.
  • Static sites cost £5 a month.
  • Each extra production site costs £20 a month.
  • The minimum term is six months, then it runs month to month with 30 days’ notice.
  • If it isn’t working for you in the first 30 days, I refund the rest of what you’ve paid.

Doesn’t fit your budget? I have special rates for small sites and charities. Get in touch. I’m always happy to have a conversation.

Domains and email

Your domain and email, looked after too

If I host your DNS, your email records, your email authentication and your mailboxes sit beside your site, with one person responsible for all of it.

Domains and DNS

If I host your domain’s DNS, you edit the records yourself from the dashboard and can roll back any change.

Email authentication

Gmail and Outlook now expect SPF, DKIM and DMARC records before they trust mail from your domain.

Hosted mail

Mailboxes on your own domain, with webmail and calendars, on the same UK platform as your site.

Beyond WordPress

Bespoke apps, on the same platform

Some clients need more than a website, so I build small web apps for them. I use AI tools to write faster, and I review and test every change myself before it goes live.

A dance class under way in a performing-arts academy's mirrored studio

Bespoke apps

A school management platform

The largest so far runs a performing-arts school: families and classes, termly enrolment, registers, statements emailed as PDFs, payment plans with reminders and a sign-in kiosk for students. Others include a stock app for a hire business and a box office for a theatre group. Each app is quoted per project, with hosting included.

Five steps

Moving to us

Your first migration is free, and nothing changes for your visitors until you say so.

  1. You send me a login for your current host, or an export of the site, and I copy the files and database across.
  2. I set the site up on the platform and test it on a private address: pages, forms, checkout and email.
  3. You check it and tell me what’s wrong, and I fix it.
  4. When you’re happy, I point your domain at the new site. Your old host stays live until the change has settled, usually a day or two.
  5. I watch the site closely for the first week, then it joins the daily routine of backups, checks and updates.

Most moves take under a week from the day I get access. If your email is with your current host, it needs its own plan, and I’ll walk you through that before anything moves.

Before you ask

Questions people ask

Anything else: ask me.

Can you move my site from my current host?

Yes. The first migration is free. I copy the site across, test it on the new platform, and switch the domain over when you’re happy. Further migrations cost £50 each.

Where is my data kept?

Your site, its database and its backups are held in Google Cloud’s London region. A few outside services, such as the AI assistant and email delivery, are listed in the privacy policy.

How do I log in to WordPress?

The login page sits behind Google sign-in. You and anyone you add sign in with a Google account first, then WordPress as normal. Bots that hunt for login pages never see yours. The WordPress and WooCommerce mobile apps still work.

Can I use Elementor, Breakdance or WooCommerce?

Yes. I have tuned the caching for Breakdance, Elementor and the block editor, and WooCommerce shops run on the same plan. If you have a premium plugin, you keep your own licence and I install it.

Do you use AI?

Yes, to work faster. I use AI tools to write code and check configuration, and I review and test what they produce before it reaches your site, so you get the speed of the tools with the judgement of someone who has run platforms for twenty years. The dashboard also gives you targeted AI assistants that can look at your own site’s logs, settings and health and answer questions directly, so small problems get solved quickly without waiting for me. I’m always here when you need a person.

Do I get email with the plan?

Your site can send its own mail, such as contact forms, order confirmations and password resets. If you send newsletters or a lot of mail, you connect your own sending provider and I set it up. If you want mailboxes on your own domain, I host those too, on the same UK platform. Ask me about it.

Can I phone you?

Yes. The number is 020 3422 9767. If I can’t pick up, leave a message and I’ll ring back. If your site is down, the monitoring has usually told me before you call.

What happens if I want to leave?

I give you a copy of your site’s files and database, and I help you move your domain to wherever you’re going. There’s no exit fee.
